Here is a list of some of our favourite vegan-friendly wedding venues we’ve catered at. By vegan-friendly, we mean venues which will allow vegan caterers to come in and provide the catering, so you can have a fully vegan wedding.
Some venues include catering as part of the package, so it’s not a given that you’ll be able to choose your own catering.
Quite a big venue in the middle of countryside, with nice grounds. You can add an extension on the back of the kitchen if you are doing any significant amount of hot food. This is the closest venue we’ve catered, about one mile from our kitchen.
Middle Coombe Farm
Uplowman, Tiverton, EX16 7QQ
A beautiful eco wedding venue set in the middle of countryside. There is a semi-permanent barn and plenty of space outside to be in, plus accommodation. Angela who runs the venue is super-friendly and helpful.
EXETER and surrounds
St David’s Church
Queen’s Terrace, Exeter
This is almost in the centre of Exeter and the proprieter Mary was so helpful during the wedding and beforehand. The only Christmas wedding we’ve catered and it was right in the church in a large space at the front. The kitchen was newly equipped. The venue was decked out with Christmas decorations and it looked great and there was a lovely Christmassy atmosphere that left us thinking more weddings should be at Christmas.
Upton Pyne, Exeter, EX5 5EF
This has a huge, beautiful garden and lovely views of the countryside. The house is like a stately home so lots of character. There is a room where you can set up an oven and temporary kitchen if you need it.
Lower Ashton, Exeter, EX6 7RH
At Canonteign Falls there is a big barn/marquee for the wedding party, which looked fab once it was decorated and has amazing views. We catered alongside BUN burgers and both of us set up a catering tent at the back of the barn, where we had access to water but not electric.
Lynton Town Hall
Lee Road, Lynton, EX35 6HT
Lynton is on the north coast of Devon. It is rugged and beautiful with the sea very close to hand. The town hall has a very well equipped kitchen and hall.
Little Knowle Farm, High Bickington, Umberleigh, near Barnstaple, EX37 9BJ
With a view across the countryside and a stone path leading through the cottages next to the hall and kitchen this is so beautiful. The kitchen can be used for a small wedding or you can attach a marquee for bigger weddings.
The Oak Barn
Hittisleigh Barton, EX6 6LF
This has nice surroundings and a very good kitchen and friendly staff.
Tavistock Town Hall
Bedford Square, Tavistock, PL19 0AL
This is located in the centre of Tavistock, with a large hall. For us the kitchen stood out, probably the best equipped kitchen we’ve catered in. There were three double ovens, a huge holding cupboard and plenty of work space.
Teign Valley Community Hall
Lower Town, Christow, Dartmoor, EX6 7NA
With a huge hall that fits up to 150 people or maybe more. The kitchen is well-equipped. Set in Dartmoor with beautiful surroundings.
Haytor Road, Bovey Tracey, Newton Abbot, TQ13 9LN
Lily of Yarner House could not have been more helpful and the view across the countryside and woods was breathtaking as was Yarner House when you approach it. A marquee was set up and a special kitchen marquee at the back which the venue and wedding couple arranged, so we just let them know what we needed in the marquee.
The Beach House
Foxholes Hill, Exmouth, EX8 2DF
This was more a guest house but the kitchen was well equipped so you could cater for up to about 40 people there. It was just stunning as you can see on the website, with a long garden, swimming pool and view of the beach.
Lympstone Village Hall
This is a big venue near to Exmouth. It has a large kitchen and two halls.
Cornish Tipi Weddings
Tregildans Quarry, Trelill, Bodmin, PL30 3HZ
This is a beautiful wooded site which meanders around an old quarry. It has a lake and you can go swimming! The last time we catered some resident ducks were wandering around which was very charming. The staff are really helpful too. There is a large marquee at the top for big wedding parties, a licensed part if you want to do the legal bit in the same venue and smaller areas if you are having a more intimate wedding.
Lovely views of the beach nearby. A regular venue, and well-equipped kitchen where there is even access to your own private toilet (!) and access right next to the kitchen for unloading.
Launcells, Bude, EX23 9NQ
Purpose-built wedding venue. The staff were really helpful on the day though it was hard to get an appointment to view the venue. The kitchen was huge and very well-equipped, there was even a seperate pot wash room to clean any dishes!
Mount Pleasant Eco Park
Chapel Town, Porthtowan, TR4 8HL
We were allowed to cater here a few years ago and it’s a beautiful venue with the sea a few miles away. Nowadays vegetarian and vegan catering is provided by the venue including street food trucks.
This has a small kitchen so is best for smaller weddings. It has a large but cosy inside room, plus space outside for celebrating.
The hosts of this lovely venue were so friendly, you couldn’t ask for nicer hosts. We went for what we thought was a short visit to look at the kitchen and before we knew it were having a coffee and chat, exchanging facebook contacts and taking a dog walk around the premises – it includes a wood so there is lots of space to roam around.
The Assembly Rooms
This is in Glastonbury town centre. There is a room downstairs which can be converted into a kitchen, though no running water which means you need to arrange your own supply. The staff here went above and beyond to help with anything needed.
The guide is not extensive, there are many wedding venues in Devon, Cornwall and the South West.
As a rule public venues such as village halls, town halls or church halls have better equipped kitchens than private venues, though there are some exceptions to this. We are coming at this from the catering angle so have mentioned the catering facilities on each listing. It makes such a difference when there are good catering facilities so do ask about it when you are looking at venues! We never have involvement with hiring the venue so don’t know anything about the price to hire. Sometimes we don’t see any staff on the day so if they aren’t mentioned that’s probably why.
Environmentally, the better the catering facilities, the better for the environment and arguably the customer. Plus it makes the caterers happy : ) When a venue has no catering facilities it means that every week equipment has to be transported to the site to set up a temporary kitchen. As well as the environmental impact of transportation of heavy equipment, ultimately the people hiring the venue have to pay for the costs involved, which are usually hundreds of pounds.
If you would like to book us for a wedding you can do one or all of the following:
If you know any wedding venues in the South West which allow vegan catering, please leave them in the comments.
